About the olympiad

A team research competition for high-school students: problems, some with no known solution, are published months in advance, and teams defend their work in live mathematical debates.

Founded
Grew out of national tournaments in Eastern Europe. The 18th ITYM is organised by Yerevan State University, the Square Educational Foundation and Belarusian State University.
International event
24–31 January 2027 · Tsaghkadzor, Armenia (online participation available)

How it works. Teams research the published problems, then meet in 'math fights' where students take the roles of Reporter, Opponent, Reviewer and Observer. The 18th ITYM takes place in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, from 24 to 31 January 2027; teams that cannot travel may take part online.
