International Earth Science Olympiad 2025
The International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO) brings together secondary-school students from around the world to test their understanding of Earth systems; geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy, through written theory papers, hands-on practical work, and a collaborative field investigation.
The 18th edition was held in Jining, China, in 2025, where AOC students represented Pakistan alongside delegations from across the globe. Beyond the examinations, the programme included cultural exchange and field activities with students from every participating country.
One part of the competition, the Earth Science Project (ESP), places students into mixed international teams that investigate a problem together and present their findings. At IESO 2025, Pakistani students were part of both the Gold-winning and the Bronze-winning ESP teams, collaborating with peers from China, Spain, the Czech Republic, Bangladesh, Italy, Malaysia, Austria, and Estonia.
